Robert Stern教授，1962年生，英国国籍，剑桥大学哲学博士，现为英国谢菲尔德大学（University of Sheffield）哲学系教授，英国哲学学会主席。Stern教授曾任剑桥大学圣约翰学院研究员，谢菲尔德大学哲学系系主任，英国黑格尔学会主席，国际著名哲学期刊European Journal of Philosophy主编，英国黑格尔学会机关刊物Bulletin of the Hegel Society of Great Britain主编。Stern教授是世界顶尖的德国古典哲学（尤其是康德和黑格尔哲学）研究专家。他在哲学史领域的主要兴趣在于十九世纪康德以后的德国哲学，尤其是黑格尔哲学；在当代哲学领域的兴趣在于认识论、形而上学、伦理学和政治哲学。Stern教授已在牛津大学出版社和剑桥大学出版社等著名出版学术专著多部，其中比较代表性的是下述7部：
