Charles Travis教授，1943年生于美国，是英国伦敦国王学院哲学系的荣休教授。主要研究方向是语言哲学、心灵哲学和早期分析哲学史，是享有世界声誉的重量级哲学家。Travis 教授于 1963 年在美国加州大学洛杉矶分校获得博士学位，之后在多个国家多所大学哲学系任教，包括美国北卡大学、加拿大卡尔加里大学、荷兰蒂尔堡大学、美国西北大学、英国伦敦国王学院。他已发表专著10部（其中5部牛津大学出版社、1部哈佛大学出版社），另有1部正在付印（牛津大学出版社）。他在国际哲学期刊发表论文70多篇，其中包括像Mind（多篇）和Philosophical Quarterly（多篇）。牛津大学出版社还于2018年出了一本专门讨论Travis 哲学思想的论文集，名为The Philosophy of Charles Travis: Language, Thought, and Perception。
